Varroa basics: measure, do not guess.

A colony can look strong while mite pressure is building. Good management starts with an appropriate monitoring method and a record of the result.

What matters

Learn a validated monitoring method such as an alcohol wash or another locally recommended quantitative method.
Record the date and result instead of relying on whether you can see mites on adult bees.
Interpret thresholds in the context of your region, season, colony condition, and current extension or expert guidance.
If treatment is indicated, follow the product label exactly and consider honey supers, temperature limits, resistance management, and colony conditions.
Re-check when appropriate so you know whether your management actually worked.
